Neil supports Thuy’s family

caunhi
Dear Neil,

Earlier this month, a mine accident occurred at Cau Nhi village in Quang Tri province, Vietnam, while two local people were clearing bush. The victims were Dao Ba Tam (46 years old), and his wife, Hoang Thi Thuy (46 years old). Tam died in the Hue hospital on the same day, while Thuy had only experienced minor injuries.

Tam was the bread-winner of his family. He and his wife were supporting 4 school-aged children. The second child decided to drop out of school to work at a hairdressing salon to earn more money for the family. The income of the family mainly depends on rice cultivation, and it averages to $45 per month. To send their children to school, Tam and Thuy had to borrow money from relatives and friends.

Right after the accident, PeaceTrees Vietnam supported Tam’s family by paying for his funeral. This support was small but meaningful to the family while they were facing emotional trauma and economic hardship. The death of Tam is an enormous loss for his family. What they need to be supported now is educational scholarships for children and household economic support. Such practical assistance will help them have a brighter future.

Neil, thank you for supporting the financial assistance PeaceTrees allocated to help this family rebuild their life.
